How to Play Roulette, Roulette Rules, Win at Roulette

Despite the fact that there are a variety of combinations and different bets that can be placed, Roulette is very simple. Roulette is played on a table with a betting area and a roulette wheel. The wheel has 36 different black and red sections with numbers from 1 to 36, and two green sections with 0 and 00.

In the game of Roulette, every player uses different colored chips in order to identify which player made what wager. The game begins after the players have made their bets by placing their chips on the numbered layout. The dealer then spins the wheel in one direction and a small ball in the opposite direction. When the ball falls into one of the wheels numbered sections, the winning number is determined.

There are many different types of wagers that can be placed on a roulette table. The image below provides a guide for how and where to place a wager. The white lettered chips correspond with the descriptions of the different bets listed below.

A. Any Red or Black Bet - In this case, the player puts his or her chips either on the black or the red field on the outside. This covers all the black or red numbers on the field. The odds are 1:1.

B. Any Even or Odd Bet ? Here, a player is betting whether the next number that comes up is either an even or odd number. Similar to the bet above, each of those two fields covers 18 numbers. 0 or 00 is not considered either even or odd, so if they come up, the player loses. The odds are 1:1.

C. Any Low or High Number Bet - This bet divides the field of numbers into two groups. The first group of numbers is from 1 to 18 and the second is from 19 to 36. A player bets on whether the next number that comes up is between 1 and 18 or 19 and 36. If 0 or 00 shows up, the player loses. The odds are 1:1.

D. Column Bets - There are three columns on a roulette table, normally referred to as the 1st, 2nd & 3rd columns. Each column covers 12 numbers. If any of the numbers included in the column show, the player wins. The odds are 2:1.

F. Straight Bet ? A players can place chips on any of the 38 numbers on the table and if that number comes up the player wins. The odds are 35:1.

G. Split or Two Number Bet - In a split bet, a player places a chip on the line between two neighboring numbers. If the ball lands on either of these two numbers, the player wins. The odds on this bet are 17:1.

H. Street or Three Number Bet - This bet allows the player to cover an entire row of the table. The player wins if any one of those three numbers comes up. The odds are 11:1.

J. Corner Bet - This bet covers four numbers. If any of those four numbers comes up, the player wins. The odds are 8:1.
